Giuseppina will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her 3 children Maria, Enza (Paul) and Vince (Lisa), her 5 grandchildren Liz (Ryan), Alex (Meg), Andrew (Anna), Christopher (Vanessa) and Sophia, and her 3 great grandchildren Charlotte, Isla, and Brie.
She is predeceased by her father Vincenzo Mastrovito and mother Maria Luigi Mastrovito (Caruso), her beloved husband Michele, sister Nella Micone, brother Antonio Mastrovito, and her first daughter Ausilia, who passed away due to illness at the tender age of 14 months.
Born on April 9, 1930, in Casacalenda, Campobasso, Italy, Giuseppina married Michele Vincelli, also of Casacalenda, on January 2, 1950. Michele immigrated to Canada first to secure work and Giuseppina followed with Maria and Enza in 1956. They settled in Hamilton. Giuseppina lived there until 2017 when she moved to Oakville.
Giuseppina was a strong, loving, and successful woman, attributes that served her and her family well in the difficult early years in Canada. She and her husband worked hard to build their family legacy after starting out with very little. She loved cooking and baking even into her later years, making numerous pizzas, pasta and a variety of cookies and baked goods to give to her adult children every time they visited. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends, and knitting and crocheting, especially for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. We will all miss her favourite saying, “I love you guys.”
Her family thanks her friends and those that supported her and kept her safe and healthy in her final years at Queens Avenue Retirement Residence. The family also wishes to thank Dr. A. Miceli and staff at Trillium Health Partners Mississauga Hospital for their compassionate care of Giuseppina in her final days.
Visitation will be on Thursday, October 19th from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Ave. E, Hamilton. A Funeral Mass will be held at Most Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, 305 East 37th Street, Hamilton on Friday, October 20th at 11 am.
