WE are grateful for his long and meaningful life. Ernie is predeceased by his wives Dorene Joan Gallo and Jennie Owen Gallo. Also predeceased by his mother Antonina Billone [Sicily] and his father Pasquale Gallo [Rome] as well as his six brothers [ Domenic, Peter, Joseph, Thomas, Frank, and Johnny, and two sisters Betty and Carina]. Ernie is survived by his three sons and daughter. David [ Janis], Robert [Andrea], James[ Pamela] and Nancy [Jackie] and 12 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grand children.
Ernie spent 30 years of his working career at Stelco, the majority as a Millwright and a Union Steward. Ernie was a terrific athlete participating in many sports and was on the taxi squad of the Hamilton Wild Cats in the 1940'S. His sports passion became Golf. He played thousands of golf games and played right up to the age of 93. Ernie was the strong leader of his own family and taught his children the Values of hard work, and Integrity, the importance of family and close friends and to take responsibility for your own actions. He grew up in the 1930s in the depression , with a single parent mother raising 9 children on her own. His father passed away when he was three years of age. His family recognizes him as a very tough minded but loving father , who was a great teacher, with a good amount of compassion for others, and a great faith in God. The Gallo family would like to thank St. Peters hospital for their excellent care of Ernie in his final days and a special thank you to Doctor Solomon and Nurse Ashley and staff.
