The sadness we feel at sharing the passing of Douglas Thomas Elton is beyond words. Doug died surrounded by his family on July 20th, 2024 at the age of 72. He has been reunited with his cherished son Douglas Paul (Dougie). Devoted and Loving husband of Gloria (Millette) for 53 wonderful years. Most loved father to Dana and her husband Darren Nie. As the most cherished Papa, he filled their lives with love, humour and happy memories, he will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Emma, Rachael, Cole and Nathan. Son of the late Douglas and Alma Elton, and son in law to Isabel and the late Frank Millette. Loving brother to Deb Farbas, Dan Elton, Lynda Elton, Irene (Jim) Ashmore, and Karen (Jeff) Croft. Caring brother in law to Gloria’s siblings; Karen, the late Frank, Teena, Janice, Bryon (Roberta), Ross (Marie), Lana, Sandra. Loved uncle by many nieces and nephews.
Doug leaves behind a loving legacy as a devoted husband, amazing dad, and most adored papa. To know Doug was to know his great story telling, his love for travel and to have him as your biggest cheerleader, either by your side or in the stands. His quick wit and teasing nature was surpassed only by his heart of gold. He was the epitome of generosity, kindness and love. Doug was a well respected electrician and member of the IBEW Local 105 for over 50 years.
We want to thank the ICU staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital who cared for Doug with such kindness and compassion that carried over to his family.
Donations in Doug’s memory can be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
