Claire Esther Dowd

Claire was born September 25th 1938 in the opening weeks of the Henderson Hospital Maternity Ward to May and Ray Leadbetter. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Donald of 58 years, and her siblings Alan, Graham, and Joan. She will be greatly missed by her sister Maxine, her children David (Cathy), Carolyn (Rob), Martin (Joanne), LuAnn (Gary), Susan (Paulette), her 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Claire was dearly loved by many relatives, nieces, nephews and close friends.

She cherished her home she resided in for 50 years, loving her Yorkies and her back yard. She enjoyed cooking, baking, feeding the many, and will always be remembered for her famous carrot cake, banana bread, and chocolate chip cookies. Always up for traveling and road trips as long as it landed her at the casino.

A special thank you to St. Peter’s Palliative Care for their care and compassion during her brief stay, and to her Bayshore PSW’s for her personal care over the last several months.

Friends will be received at the MARLATT FUNERAL HOME, 615 Main Street East, Hamilton on Monday, February 6th from 5-8pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, February 7th at 11am with visiting one hour prior. Interment to follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
