Violet Winkler

Age 89, of Concord, NC, passed away on October 15, 2012 at Morningside Nursing Home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born on August 8, 1923 in Hamilton, the daughter of the late Alfred and Nannie (Laws) Murphy. On August 19, 1942 she married Harold E. Winkler, Past Grand Master of Washington Lodge # 17 F&AM, and he preceded her in death on September 21, 1993 after 51 years of marriage. Violet retired from Krauth and Benninghofen in 1994 after 20 years of service. After retirement she moved to Vero Beach, Florida then to Concord, North Carolina. Violet is survived by her son, Dr. Harold E. Winkler, Jr. and his wife Bernice; two grandsons; six great grandchildren; sister, Oneida Van Ostrand, and Violet’s late husband’s family, Norma Daneff, Ruby Singleton, and Fred Winkler. Funeral ceremony will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday October 20, 2012 at the Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Beck officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to services from 9AM to 10AM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in her memory to Epworth United Methodist Church, 1030 Burrage Road Northeast, Concord, NC 28025.
