You were the best great grandma I could ever have🩷( and you still are)❤️ I love you so much Grammie🩷. I loved the time we spent together and the sweet and thoughtful memories we’ve had together. I love all the fun earring parties we’ve had together and how we always talked about God. You’ve been a great role model and the leader of the pack!(the family). I always LOVED the beautiful earrings you would put on for every occasion and every outfit you would put on.  We’ve had the greatest memories! I’m so sad that all the fun stuff has to end. You’ve always held our family together like glue during the hardest times. I’m so sad our wonderful time with you had to end, but… now you’re in heaven! And remember I love you with all the fish in the ocean, and all the sand on the beaches!! You will always be remembered.💕Love you.

paragraph 2 - this starts after the words, "guest bedroom" 

well when she first showed it to me, and I asked what the dolls names were ( because allll of her dolls had names, so naturally I thought these would too) she said they didn’t have names and we decided we should name them… 
So right away she got out those tiny yellow post it notes and one by one, for several hours, we named each doll, I would write the name we made up on the post it not and fold it, then we would shove each one up that doll's dress… ya know…. So it would never be forgotten… to this day, those dolls are still on the tree with a post it note of their name, still up their dress. 
Then were the days of dressing me like a doll…. Let’s just say I wore a lot of things for pictures. School pictures, church choir pictures… etc.  But it wasn’t until I was older that I realized I LOVED dressing up as much as she did!… well maybe not quite AS MUCH, but close… she would come with my mom and I dress shopping for every dance in high school, she would eventually take me to this special custom dress boutique in Glendale for my senior year dances… I was a real Cinderella with a real fairy godmother… it was incredible.  It was a fairytale. I was there surrounded by my mom, my Grammies mom (my Meemaw more) and my Grammie… all just for me… their princess.  Her princess.  And as I write this I remember more and more that I could write on forever… With tears in my eyes I reflect back on when I got married, and her words of faith and encouragement and when I had my twins, her desire to make every single moment with them the best times they'd ever had… and she did. She never once didn’t make every moment meaningful and remind them that everything is because of the lord and our faith in him… and even through my divorce she still flooded me with words of faith and encouragement.  She still did up until the day she left this earth.

paragraph 1. 
“Grammie” if a dictionary could somehow start to efficiently define the term “Grammie” it would start off something like this; the most extraordinary woman… one with a Godly heart that is hard to even describe into words… and one with the tiniest handwriting that the words can hardly be read. :) 

Not to mention the notable fashion icon and coolest Grandma a kid could ever have… I mean she drove a “beemer” when I was little… I had no idea what that meant until I was older, but she was always extraordinary… emphasis on the “extra” :) As the only granddaughter I grew up differently than my brother and my cousin Chris. They both had very special places and roles in her life, and both have the most amazing stories about their times spent with her…. But there is just something different about being the only granddaughter of Grammie….
One example I reminded her of about 3 weeks ago was when I was painting her nails on her birthday… I said “Grammie, remember when you took me to get a manicure for the first time when I was 12, and we convinced that lady to wax my bushy eyebrows, too?” She shook her head yes, and said, “Yeah I do… I probably got in trouble for that!” I reassured her that she didn’t, and reminded her of how much fun we had that day.  
Other examples are that
We had tea parties - at least 100. 
We had dress up. At least 100 
We cooked together and played “Old Maid” every single time I was over. 
She would even take me to buy lipstick for when I played dress up at home… it had to be her favorite brand though… thankfully it didn’t have to be her favorite “coral” color though! 
One day, we randomly decided to dig into one of her doll collections, (ONE OF her MANY doll collections) and these dolls were tiny, cute and not nearly as creepy as some of her others…. These dolls were the size of a Christmas ornament… so she hung them on a small Christmas tree, and it hung out all year round in a guest bedroom….

-last paragraph- 
I know the people who have spoken before me have nonetheless talked about the lives Grammie touched, or the memories of people who remember her for one special thing she did, or many, or a special moment they had together… and I am sure they are much more put together than mine is, but all of those things are just the threads of her life well lived and they go on to make up the fabric of who she was as a Godly Christian Woman.  She moved mountains and truly changed the way people view the world, the way they lived their life, the way they viewed their struggles or their triumphs.. She was extraordinary… she left behind a legacy of what true faith and hope is… and what the power of Jesus can do in each of our lives.  She was LOVE. She was Grammie. And I am so proud to have grown up and have my children grow up, with her as our Grammie… to walk in her footsteps with Christ by our side and now her as our guardian angel. As I type these words, with my kids sleeping next to me and tears rolling down my face, I can’t imagine what life will be like without her… but she’s already let us know she's with us and she will always be with us.  She sent a hummingbird right up to my back door yesterday, I have no feeder, and I have not seen a hummingbird at my house in years… Laney and I looked at each other with our mouths dropped to the floor, we knew it was her. She wanted us to know that it was her and she would always be watching over us.  She is truly one of a kind.  I am so blessed that God gave me my Grammie.  The extraordinary one, with the very tiny handwriting… 
Thank you all for coming today and celebrating her life with us. She loved each and every one of you.

It was a prayer list for her-and she prayed for all of them. 

More recently she talked about the power of 1. What 1 person can do creates a rippling effect. One person shares or request a prayer to another person, they add it to another prayer chain and they add it and it goes on and on. Pretty soon hundreds are praying for you and it started with 1. 

While looking through pictures and just reliving the past few months; I was reminded again of the privilege to be around her. Looking for hummingbirds in the morning, watching “game shows”, Reds games on tv, endless snacks and her bright smile.  The past few months started taking away and dim her outward smile but I know her inward smile was getting bigger and brighter as she was closer to the gates of heaven. I know God was waiting for her with a smile of His own telling her welcome home thou good and faithful servant, welcome home. 

I will always miss your physical presence and the scar left will always be a reminder of pain-but memories and joy will lessen the pain-Joy will still come in the morning.

I’ve written this a 1000 times in my head- can’t tell a lifetime of love in a few paragraphs-told her a couple years ago-if I started that day and began writing-I couldn’t say enough. Just hope my actions reflect my love. 

This is first a thank you to you that are here to share and learn a little more insight to who our Mom, Grammie and Great Grammie was. No stories just lessons learned. 

My first thank you is to God for giving us such a great woman who we called mom. We know we hit the jackpot!  Many of you know some things about her. Her style, her angels, her earrings, her “jazziness”, her extra sauce, extra gravy, extra! But those who knew her heart, knew her best. First and foremost her love Lord superceeded everything!  Like her obituary said, she taught Sunday School for over30 or so years. She knew her Bible well. When she was young she and two other ladies won the National Bible Memory Contest in Chicago. If you look at her Bibles or inspirational books of prayers or promises, I know there are notes and underlines and comments. The words were alive in her. She always wanted God to be the center of her life. She taught us so many things-planting “seeds” in our life’s. She told us you plant seeds and hope they take root.  Some you get to sow and reap, some other people get to reap but most important thing is to plant lots of seeds-she planted lots of seeds for us. 

She taught us the Christian values some like caring, nurturing, truth, hope,love, kindness and forgiveness. Her positive spirit through this illness was amazing to witness. Sometimes I heard her pleading- but she always gave it to God. For over 6 years we watched her with high and lows and she remained true to her faith. Her remarks were if one person, returns to their faith or finds the Lord, because of my cancer it was worth it all. 

Couple of lessons learned:
1) Make time-don’t try to find it; you never will
2) Tell somebody today how much they mean to you-write a note, give them a call,

Janet R Bennett
Janet (Mom to me) was one of the most thoughtful persons I have ever known. She literally made everyone in the room feel they were “special”.

I remember first meeting her and thinking “Wow…look at that dress!” as she never left home without looking her best!  I remember coming to the house one day and she was working in the yard pulling weeds and trimming bushes and she was there in a white outfit with bling and glitter!

She also took more pictures than me!  And at that time I did it for a living!  We must have thousands of photos of our family events… and I am so grateful that she did it, as they are awesome to look through now. many years later. 

She was a true lover of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was the “prayer warrior “ for our family at every gathering!  We never ate without going around the room with everyone holding hands and saying something we were grateful for. Of course, John’s favorite one was “Ditto”!  Then he would get the grin from her!! 😊

Then there was her Angel coins… I suspect she easily gave over 1000 coins to people that she would meet and feel impelled to pray for them especially during a tough time in their life. To this day, people will pull it out and show me that they carry it with them EVERY day and what it meant to them when she gave it to them. 

In closing, she was a beautiful lady inside and out… she loved everyone she met and loved our Lord!

I just wanted to tell you all what a wonderful sweet memorial you had for your mom. Jena and I were so tearful through it all. I was really inspired by so much of it. Such a reminder that the small seeds of God’s mercy and love can take root and grow. Janet would have felt so loved and cherished by it all. Years ago you told me you read a scripture in the Bible that really touched you about angels. Since then whenever God put someone on your heart to give them an angel token you would give one to them along with a card saying:
“This is just a reminder that the Lord gives his Angels charge over you, to watch over and take care of you. Also, the Lord, Himself stands by you-He will never leave nor forsake you.

Mom always believed in me. She helped me see my own uniqueness even when I couldn’t see it in myself. She taught me life is still beautiful even when it isn’t simple. 

Mom had a special kind of love. A love that only she could have given me-a love that made all the difference in my life. 

As a child I couldn’t understand or fully realize the meaning of a Mother’s love, how caring and wise. Your patience and guidance, your helpful and caring ways. Years went by and before I knew the depth of your concern, your love and protectiveness-it takes so long to learn. As I grew, I understood from looking back and seeing, through older eyes and a wiser heart, your love and faithfulness. It’s these and many other things that made you more loved and more appreciated. 

You were a wonderful mother. You were a beautiful person. You listened with your heart. You were always giving. You were the best. I love you more than you will ever know. You meant so much to me. Thank you for always being there for me in good times and bad. 

You recently told me that you thanked God for the cancer and that you have peace. You didn’t want to go but you were ready to go. When asked how you were doing, you would always say “Better than most”.

My Tribute to My Mom
My Mother - My Friend - Now my Guardian Angel with wings. You encouraged, supported and comforted me. Always there to say what I needed to hear at just the right time. You prayed for me when I couldn’t pray for myself. You always thought of others first. You were a spiritual legacy. The Matriarch of our family. You were an awesome woman of God. 

There aren’t enough adjectives to describe or do justice to her. I am sure we have no idea how much she loved, how many lives she touched nor the enormous amount of good she did. She truly left the world a better place - she left an unforgettable imprint on all of us. She is and was truly an Angel. How blessed and fortunate that God gave her to us. 

She loved her Lord with all her heart. Her faith and trust in Him brought her through many difficult times all her life - and she never complained. She was a role model and set a great example for all of us. 

She didn’t preach word sermons, her life said it all. Just know she prayed for us all every day. She was beautiful inside and out, gentle, kind, loving, caring, giving, forgiving - and very rich - A CHILD OF THE LORD!

Mom loved Christmas. She had an open house for her Christmas decorations. She was featured in Cincinnati Magazine for her house one year. There was Christmas in every room. Some things she left up year round. She has many nativity sets up everywhere. 

Mom always had to have earrings and lipstick on even in the hospital, rehab facility, home, anywhere. She loved earrings. She had large tackle boxes full of earrings. 

Some things my mom told me:
~I wish you could see you through my eyes
~You are somebody 
~We are all worth something
~You have a voice and you need to be heard
~We didn’t do everything right but our motives were right
~Leave things better than you found them
~It’s always the right time to do the right thing
~Don’t rob me of my blessing
~We’re going to make it God and Grams said so

Mom was a true role model of a mother-in-law. She always treated me as a son and we had a good relationship. I could go to her anytime if I had a problem or needed something. Mom was a compassionate person who always helped other people, even if it meant going out of her way. She would stay after church on Sundays to talk about to members of her class who had problems or questions. Mom was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord. It showed by her good deeds and the way she lived her life.

She had a few saying I remember:
That’s all I know
She would ask Dad:  Where am I looking John?

I have know mom for over 49 years while being engaged and married to Vicki. I remember the many times she would spend visiting Vicki at the hospital (many hospitals). There was one instant where she stayed overnight many times with Vicki. 

Memories I have are when mom, dad, Vicki and I would go on Friday nights to a restaurant and catch a movie. We enjoyed our time together. 

Mom enjoyed everything Christmas with all the decorations and would have celebrated it all year long if she could. To sum up her life she was a devoted wife over 65 years, a mother of three children, a grandma to three grandchildren and a great grandma to seven great grandchildren and one on the way. 

I appreciate having her in my life all these years and will never forget her and what she meant to me.  Her kindness and smile will be with me forever. May you finally rest in peace with no pain, with Dad and Grams.

Anyone lucky enough to meet my Grandma, Janet Bennett, should consider themselves blessed. To be her Grandson is a great honor. 

Grandma and her Mother both taught me life’s most valuable lessons. I’m happy to say these lessons and her legacy live on through many, including my family and me. 
1.  God, family and love are the most important
2.  A short pencil is better than a long memory
3.  “Stick to it ness”/never give up or quit
4.  No one goes to the cemetery with a U-Haul…material things don’t matter 
5.  No is a complete sentence 
6.  We have 2 ears and 1 mouth for a reason
…the great one liners go on and on. 

She lived a role model life to be admired and appreciated. Her faith, love and devotion to the Lord were palpable. She even thanked God for her cancer as her case brought some people back to their faith. With an army of prayer warriors she kicked cancer’s butt for years, “extensions “ as she called them. We witnessed undeniable miracles that even changed her oncologist beliefs. 

I’m sad we won’t be able to talk or be together on this earth again, but I still feel her love in my heart and I know she is happy to be with Grandpa and her Mom again.

My deepest & heartfelt “THANK YOU” for being a neighbor & friend to my parents like nothing I have ever witnessed. You brought mom such great joy with all your shopping trips, all your time at Mercy Healthplex and of course her favorite…eating out. I always admired your positive spirit, no matter what personal situation or challenge you were going thru. You always had a nice compliment and lifting up spirit. No matter what, always doing your best to rub some of that positiveness and hope off on mom, who I know was a challenge for you. You set the bar when it comes to “sole level friends”.  A friend will be there no matter what time of day or night. A friend that is selfless to the “nth” degree. For that …I am and will forever be…deeply grateful. 
As for “Johnny”.  May I add him to the list of Hall of Fame neighbors as well. A work ethic like no one I have ever seen. I can still picture him out on that old John Deere, mowing mom’s lawn or helping around the house when dad was gone on a road trip and the years following his passing. As you know my passion is character education and the primary way we learn character is from our parents and positive role models in our lives. My character was shaped in a positive manner by knowing John & Jan Bennett. I learned what caring, compassion, kindness, selfless giving and hard work looked like from two of the best people who have graced the planet. I will never forget the “super Jan hugs” and the heartfelt “love you honey” when leaving mom’s. Each and every time knowing it came from the depths of your caring heart. 
THANK YOU for bringing so much love to the Joe Nuxhall family and this world. Jackie Robinson said “A life is not important unless it is based on the impact it had on others”.  What an important life you have lived…for your impact has been deep.

To My Dear Friend of Many Years
Janet, I cannot state strongly enough what a real source of inspiration you have been for me and many others as well. Your faith and courage in spite of the many obstacles you have faced over the years are beyond measure!  I know you credit your mother for these qualities and perhaps rightfully so. No doubt she laid the foundation which was a great gift but you built upon it - brick by brick and step by step. As your mother did with you, you have given your children and those of us close to you a great legacy which I greatly cherish. I shall always remember with fondness and affection the teenager with the pony tail who came into my life as a high school senior and remained there ever since. You have enriched my life greatly for which I will always be thankful. 
This quilt is just a small taken of my admiration and affection for you. I trust that it will be a reminder of all you mean to so many of us who have been lucky enough to be one of your friends. 
I am still praying the Hezekiah prayer but whatever the future holds I pray that God will continue to wrap His loving arms around you and enfold you in His presence.

Janet was a remarkable woman with faith that was an amazing witness to me and many others,  During the several  years I visited with her in person or on phone calls as part of the congregational care ministry of College Hill Presbyterian Church she was always an inspiration.  I regret I was not able to attend her funeral as I had just been exposed to Covid.  However, I am sure that in God's perfect timing we'll  again sing  hymns of praise together where the tree of life is blooming!

I had the honor of having Janet as my patient on 4 West at the christ hospital multiple times. I loved her spirit and her heart. My heart is broken with the news & my heart aches for her family whom I know loved her dearly. Janet will always be my favorite patient & the angel coin holds an even more important memory to me now. My favorite Sunday school teacher!   I was blessed to work for John and Janet in the early 80’s when they had the contracts to the city concession stands.  Janet, you were much loved!  I do believe Janet was welcomed with the  words, “well done thou good and faithful servant”.   I look forward to seeing both John and Janet again!

Janet's positive attitude and unwavering faith in the Lord was an inspiration to all of us who knew her.  Life's curves, which were many for her, did not diminish Janet's positive attitude or her faith.  In her usual modest way, she declined to take any personal credit for her endurance and overall positive outlook on life, instead citing her mother's example as the basis for her strength.   Janet was a life-long, loving friend for whom there will be no replacement.  She has now heard the words of the Lord:  "Well done thou good and faithful servant.  Thou has been faithful over a few things.  I will make you ruler over many.  Enter thou into the joys of the Lord."  My heartfelt sympathy for Vicki, Lois, and John David.

My prayers to the family and my good friend John in their loss of sweet woman who loved Jesus.  In my conversations with Janet, she spent most of her time giving glory to God for another day.   She had such a relationship with Jesus and was such a thankful person for all that God had done and was doing in her life.   She was a great example of a servant who ran the race.

It is an honor and pleasure to know Janet Bennett and her beautiful family, who made me so welcome into their homes and into their lives through my friend John D. Bennett. My thoughts are with you all at this time as Janet rests in the arms of her Lord and Savior.

Janet was an extremely good person and a genuine inspiration. 
My wife Kathy and I were teenagers in her Sunday school class at Fairfield Wesleyan church during the late 1960s.  She was an excellent teacher and generous with her time. She also had a beautiful singing voice and we were fortunate to have her sing at our wedding. It is always sad to lose members of one’s church family, particularly one who contributed so much to others. She will always remain an important person in our lives and will be cherished in our memories. Our condolences to each member of her family, who she treasured and uplifted throughout her long and wonderful life.
