A pillar of strength, wisdom, and love, Fern was a devoted mother, sister, friend, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was born on August 26, 1937, in Falmouth, Kentucky, to George Hesler and Ruth Frances Maines. The youngest of three children, she shared a special bond with her older siblings, Ruth Ann (Van Winkle) and Bob Hesler (Sylvia), who preceded her in death.
Fern’s life was marked by her unwavering kindness, boundless generosity, and deep commitment to her family, friends, and community.
After the passing of her husband when she was just 33, Fern found the strength and determination to complete her real estate license and take over the family business, Beaty Realty. She ran the business successfully for nearly 20 years before retiring. Later, she worked part-time at Elder-Beerman for over a decade, where she formed cherished friendships that she maintained for years to come.
Fern was a proud graduate of Hamilton High School (Class of 1955) and remained close with her lifelong friends. She was also an active member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed her time at the Fairfield Community Center, playing cards and participating in activities with her cherished companions.
She found her greatest joy in her family and her home, which was often filled with laughter, the aroma of her cooking, and the love of those closest to her. Fern was known for her love of card games, collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, and always finding a great deal. She enjoyed frequent trips to the library, yard sales, and cooking meals that her grandchildren adored.
Fern’s legacy is carried on by her son, Don Beaty (Diane), and her grandchildren: Courtney Beaty, Jon Beaty (Crystal), Tyler Beaty (Alyssa), and Cody Beaty (Laura). She is also lovingly remembered by her stepdaughter, Judy Ingram (Steve), and their children, Mike (Amber) and Ashley Ingram.
Her great-grandchildren—Adalyn, Brennan, Brayden, Silas, Tobias, Matthew, Madelyn, Liam, Beecher, Berkeley, Rex, and Levi—held a special place in her heart and brought her immense joy.
A private celebration of Fern’s life will be held at the Beaty Farm, where loved ones will gather to share memories, honor her beautiful spirit, and reflect on the incredible impact she had on all of us.
Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, we take comfort in knowing she is at peace. Her love and light will continue to guide us, reminding us of the values she instilled—kindness, perseverance, and an unshakable belief in the power of family and love.
Rest in peace, Memaw. You will forever be cherished in our hearts.
