Alberta was affectionately known to those close to her as “Bird” or her favorite, “Nana Bird.” She was a woman of strong faith in Christ, held close to her family, and was widely known as a kindhearted and lovely lady. Bird had a quick wit and appreciated life’s funny moments. She loved to dance, enjoyed creative pursuits like crafting and baking, had a lifelong appreciation for fashion, and was always interested in everyone’s story.
Alberta attended Taft High School in Hamilton, Ohio. In addition to her role as a homemaker, Alberta worked in different professions ranging from hotel manager to nurse’s aide. Throughout her life, she worked to advocate for and bring awareness to those with special needs. She also served her community as a Minister, Sunday school teacher, Brownie troop leader, and youth sports volunteer, always with her signature warm smile.
Alberta is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth “Christy” Evesque; and her cherished granddaughter, Emma Elizabeth Evesque. She is also survived by her brother, Vernon “Bo” (Candace) Combs; many loved nieces and nephews; extended relatives; and close friends. Alberta was preceded in death by her parents; her two sons, John Phillips Jr. and Michael Phillips; as well as her brother, David Combs; and her sister, Mary Williams.
Alberta will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, special aunt, and friend. May she rest in peace, reunited with her mother and her beloved sons in Heaven.
The family will hold a private celebration of life in the Spring, in accordance with Alberta’s wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Parkinson’s Foundation in her name. Condolences may be left for the family at www.Webb-Noonan.com
