Youssef Arab

Youssef was born in Diman, Lebanon, 1925, only son of the late Elias and Youssfieh (Salah) Arab. Twenty six years later he immigrated to Canada through Pier 21, Halifax. Later he met and married the love of his life, Marguarita “Margo” in 1963.

Youssef is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Margo (Napier), Halifax; sisters, Kowcab (Anthony, deceased) Ghosn and Alice (Elias) Gossen Halifax, 16 nephews and 8 nieces as well as many great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving sisters, Jamile (Gibran, deceased) Ramia and Ann (Saide, deceased) Saade

Youssef and Margo were successful business entrepreneurs in Halifax. Youssef had a passion for life and was known by all to have great care and compassion for everyone he knew. He had a great love of working in his garden and for making the ‘finest’ wines that friends and family ever tasted.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax (902-455-0531). There will be no visitation at Youssef’s request. Funeral mass will be held at Saint Benedict Parish, 45 Radcliffe Drive, Halifax, on Tuesday, July 21 at 10:30 am. Reception and condolences to follow the service in the church hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Youssef’s name to a charity of your choice, or the Restorative Care Unit, Veterans Memorial Hospital, Halifax, where Youssef received wonderful attention and care during his stay - thank you from all the family to the staff.
