Wright, Virginia (Jinny) M. (Eaton), of Cameron Hall, Parkland, Halifax, NS, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side at the Victoria General Hospital on December 5, 2021. She was born in Boston, MA on October 19, 1925. At the age of 13, she began art lessons where she discovered a passion for painting that continued throughout her life. Following graduation from Milton high school, MA, she attended Acadia University, where she met her future husband and love of her life, H. Millard (Joey) Wright.
She and her ‘Joe’ were married at Parkway Methodist Church in Milton, MA on August 23, 1947. In 1958, coinciding with a move to the Halifax area, she began her art career. As a talented artist, her mediums included oils, acrylics, pastels, charcoal pencils and watercolors which was her favourite. She created numerous portraits, still life and landscape paintings. She was a founding member of Painter’s Palette group and studied with many well-known artists, including John Cook, Tony and Jane Law, Tom McKay, Alice Reed, Jeannie Hancock and many others. She also painted weekly with the Bethany Art Group where she made many lifelong friends. She has exhibited in various art galleries such as the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Saint Mary’s and Dalhousie Universities, Sydney, Middleton’s MacDonald Museum and at various other locations in Halifax. She was a long-standing member of the Morgan Logan Chapter, Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire (IODE). She was a committed member of the basket-painting group for the annual IWK "Kermesse". The auxiliary honoured her with a life membership following 40 years of participation.
Jinny is survived by her loving husband, Joey, of 74 years, her children David (Teresa) Wright, London, England, Steven (Jan) Wright, Porter’s Lake, Cynthia (Bernie) Shea, Lantz, Carolyn Sue (Brian) Patterson, Hantsport, Doug (Dawn) Wright, Halifax, 13 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren and sister, Shirley Klindt, Madison, WI. Jinny had a talent in making each and every one of her family and friends feel special and loved, including all her friends and staff at Parkland, Cameron Hall. She was predeceased by her parents, Horace (Tim) and Laura (Peg) Eaton of Milton, MA, brother, Horace (Bud), Seattle, WA and sister, June Hill, Houlton ME.
The family would like to say a special thank you to all the health care providers on 9A of the VG hospital who went above and beyond expectations to ensure her comfort and compassion and support for all of us.
