It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Stephen Thomas Belliveau, aged 64, of Hubbards, on Friday, November 3. He was a loving father, cherished partner and adoring grandfather, who leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and treasured memories.
Stephen is survived by his two loving children, Sarah Belliveau (Ryan Hawes) and Thomas Belliveau, and a grandson Boston, who brought immense joy into his life. A man of deep family values, Stephen found his greatest pride and joy in the company of his children. He relished every moment spent with them; watching them grow, succeed, and sharing triumphs and challenges.
His partner, Marie Crowell, was the light of his life, and their love and companionship was the source of happiness for both. Together they created a bond that was unbreakable. They enjoyed many happy occasions with Marie’s daughters, Kristin (Ross Wills) and Lauren (Greg Brown), in recent years.
Stephen had a special affinity for the water, whether it was a walk on the beach, a tranquil fishing trip, or simply taking in the serene beauty of the ocean. It was in these moments that he found peace and solace, a reflection of the calm and gentle spirit that he carried within. Stephen embarked on his offshore journey at the age of 22 when he began working in the oil and gas industry. He dedicated over 30 years of his life to this field, shaping a career that led him to explore and experience diverse cultures all over the world. His commitment to excellence and attention to detail propelled him to a very successful career in the industry, where he worked with Rowan, Transocean and Seadrill Asia, rising to senior management (Tool Pusher) on offshore rigs.
Stephen was predeceased by his parents, Tom and Hazel Belliveau, who undoubtedly shaped the wonderful person he became. He grew up in Wedgewood Park, graduating from Halifax West High School. He also lived in Timberlea for many years before relocating to Hubbards a number of years ago. Stephen was also a beloved brother to Lynn (Harvey Neave and their three children), and Lisa (Peter Jackson). His presence was a source of warmth and comfort to his extended family. He will be remembered not only for the love he shared with those close to him, but also for his kindness, his smile, his encouraging and positive attitude, and his enduring spirit. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Sunday, November 19, 2-4 p.m. at St. Mary’s Boat Club, 1641 Fairfield Road, Halifax. Donations in Stephen’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. As we say our final goodbyes, we hold onto the treasured memories of a father, partner and friend who brought immeasurable love and happiness into our lives. Rest in peace, Stephen.
