MACDONALD, Shirley Carnell – 85, passed away peacefully April 30, 2010 at Arborstone Enhanced Care. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Gertrude and Jack Mumford. Following graduation from Maritime Business College, she had a brief working career before marrying. She was a devoted daughter, wife, and mother. She loved the summers spent cottaging, gardening, and swimming at the beach or the “Waeg”. In later years, she enjoyed her annual travel adventures with her daughter. She was always ready to “go”. She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Nancy MacDonald (Michael de la Ronde), Halifax; step-grandchildren, Angelique (William) Cutt, Canmore, Alberta; Andrew (Sylvia) de la Ronde, Halifax, and great-grand daughter Madison Grace Cutt, As well as her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Roderick D. MacDonald. A special thanks is extended to the staff of the 3rd Floor Arborstone Enhanced Care for their exemplary and compassionate care. Funeral services are under the direction of J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive Halifax. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 2, 2010 from 2-5pm. Funeral service will take place in the chapel on Monday, May 3rd at 3pm. Rev. Dr. P.A. McDonald officiating. Burial will take place at Fairview Lawn Cemetery. Donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
