Rose was born at home in Upper Rawdon, NS, the second of five siblings, she grew up in the area, until moving to Halifax in the mid 1960s. Rose is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Arthur “David” Henri, originally from Vancouver BC. She is also survived by her mother Margaret Bond, her sisters: Lorna (Edward) Dorsay, Thelma Cluett (Robert Chisholm), her brothers: Elmer Anthony, Eric (Millie) Anthony, her three stepsons, Matthew Henri, Mark (Jeanie) Henri and Stephen (Veronica) Henri, step grand children Kai Henri, Eve Henri, Belle Henri and Freddi Henri.
She is also survived by her niece Sandra Wood, nephews Vernon MacPhee, Steven Anthony and Bryan Anthony as well as numerous cousins. Rose was predeceased by her father James (Garth) Anthony and her brother-in-law Ronnie Cluett.
Rose made many lifetime friends including her dear friend, Marion Briand, who she has been close with since meeting in high school.
Prior to meeting David, Rose lived in PEI, Ontario and Europe where she travelled extensively. Rose and David met while working for a division of Engelhard Corporation in Winnipeg, Manitoba. They were married in April of 1994, and moved to work at the Engelhard facility in Jackson Mississippi. In 1998, David accepted a position with BOC (later Linde) at the Teck Comico smelter in Trail, BC. Rose and David moved to Castlegar, BC, where they lived for the next 24 years. Rose enthusiastically studied accounting and became a CGA, then a CPA, earning an undergraduate degree from University of Calgary. Rose worked the rest of her career with AMEC Engineering, doing cost accounting for major construction projects at the Trail smelter.
After retirement and considerable travel to Hawaii, Alaska, Florida and Nova Scotia, Rose and David made the choice to move back to Rose’s roots and settled in Brookside NS.
In the summer of 2022, they sold their home in Castlegar BC, loaded a moving truck, and took possession of their dream retirement home. They were able to enjoy a lengthy winter vacation in Florida in early 2023 and had plans to repeat in 2024.
Cremation has been entrusted to the J A Snow Funeral Home, and a Celebration of Life is being planned there on Sunday December 17, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
