Phillip is survived by his wife, Gael; his children: Graham(Paula), Karen Cossar(James), Brian(Melissa), and step-daughter Tara Phillips; his grandchildren: Brennan, Chloe, Garrett, Rena, Abigael, Tristan, Madilyn, and Kaleigh; and many close extended family members. He was predeceased by his parents: Albert "Bert", and Rena(Jones) of East Jordan, NS.
Phil had a long and distinguished career with CIBC which he began at the age of 20, until his retirement at 55. His work carried him and his young family to all corners of the Atlantic provinces. He enjoyed a long retirement where he frequently returned to the country home in East Jordan where he grew up. He and Gael loved to travel in his little red Mini to visit distant relatives and friends across the US and Canada.
Phil was so many things to so many people: kind, caring, empathetic, logical, patient, analytical, financial advisor, counselor, therapist, mover, mechanic, teacher, craftsman, artist, friend, husband, father, Grampy/Poppy. He will continue on in these roles as an unheard voice of reason, encouragement, and praise. He could spend the entire day tending the yard, in the woods, at the beach, on the water, watching football, detailing cars, or on the road, and would be glad to do it while sharing that time with family or friends. If you needed help - he was there, if you needed advice - he had it, if a hard moment of tension needed to be broken – he would be the first to do it. Quick to laugh. Always happy to see you. He leaves behind him a void that can’t be filled. He will be desperately missed.
Visitation on Monday October 23rd, 11am-1pm at St.James Anglican Church (2668 Joseph Howe Dr, Halifax, NS), Celebration of Life to follow at 2pm. Internment on Tuesday, October 24th, 11am at Pine Grove Cemetery, Shelburne, NS. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
