SIMARD, (Kinsman), Patricia Claire - of Halifax, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2011 in Glades Lodge, Halifax. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of Captain Francis (Audrey) Ryan. She attended Halifax Catholic School and commencing in grade nine, she attended St. Vincent Academy. Upon graduation in 1943, she was awarded the Governor General’s Medal. She continued her education at Dalhousie, where she was awarded two Gold “D’s”. She was employed for 35 years at the Architectural Firm of WHW Group, a firm of D.A. Webber, Architect. She was a 60 year member of Beta Sigma Phi Society, where she made many special friends. She was a board member and volunteer for a number of years for Halifax Meals on Wheels, a member of Soroptimist Club, also a member of the Royal Commonwealth Society.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Captain Pierre Simard in 1999, also an infant brother. She is survived by her son, Mr. Scott (Suzanne) Kinsman; stepson, Marc (Jocelyn) Simard and their children, Justin, Guy and Stephanie.

Cremation has taken place. A service to celebrate Patricia’s life will be held 2PM Thursday, February 24, in St. Benedict Parish, 45 Radcliffe Dr., Halifax. A reception will follow in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax (455-0531). In lieu of flowers, donations in Patricia’s memory may be made to Hope Cottage, 2435 Brunswick St. Halifax.
