Blackmore, Michael Phillip 62, of Lower Sackville, passed away June 18, 2011 at the Victoria General Hospital after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Born in Halifax on April 17, 1949 he was the youngest son of the late Maxwell and Muriel (Schubert) Blackmore. Michael is survived by his loving wife Kathy (MacKeen), the two met as students at St. Mary’s High and enjoyed a wonderful life together. He is also survived by his daughters Allyson (Mark) of Toronto and Jan (P.J.) and granddaughter Lola of Lower Sackville, sister Shirley Stewart of Burnaby and brother Wayne of Regina and many more beloved family members and friends. Aside from his parents he was predeceased by sister Carole Myles and brother James. Mike worked for Ben's Bakery (later Canada Bread) for 40 years and will be missed by the many friends there who became his extended family. Mike was one of the most fun-loving and happy people you could ever hope to meet. He was always the life of the party, and eager to go along with any adventure. Never one to sit still, he loved home renovations (and demolition), camping, golfing - and a glass of wine along with a good conversation, music and friends. He especially enjoyed action-packed vacations with traveling companions, Kathy, Ann, Rick, Les and Sergio. Mike’s girls adored him and look forward to sharing many stories with Lola of her “puppy.” Donations in Mike’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. A visitation will take place Tuesday, June 21 from 6-8pm at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive in Halifax. Funeral will be held Wednesday, June 22 at 2:30pm in the chapel at J.A.
