Mary Patricia Reid

Patsy was born on April 16, 1929 to Celina Mae and Angie Morrison in Glace Bay. The eldest of the four Morrison siblings, she was independent, spirited, loving and determined.

Patsy graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Glace Bay; she worked in Halifax until she returned to Glace Bay where she met, and married, George Reid. Following their marriage, they travelled the country from coast to coast as they were transferred with the RCMP; in 2013 Patsy received the RCMP's "Second Man" award honouring the unpaid work of spouses supporting RCMP members in rural and remote areas. Patsy worked in nursing throughout her career, spending the majority this time at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton.

Along the way they welcomed Kathy (Dan Doyle), George Jr. (Jan Baker), and Mary-Ann (Bob Telfer). She was very proud to be a grandmother of Ken Doyle, Kate Doyle, Daniella Reid and Natalie Reid.

She looked after her family - and extended family and friends - in a way that was welcoming and honest. She had opinions (which were often right) and could spar and laugh with the best. She loved to travel and spent many holidays with George exploring Canada in the summer and warm locations in the winter. In more recent years she and George loved being home in Halifax.

Predeceased by George in 2019, Patsy is survived by her children and grandchildren; her brothers, Blair (Gloria), Bobby (Tillie), and Jim (Valerie); and nieces and nephews, all whom she loved and enjoyed so much.

A celebration of Patsy's life will take place in St. Anne's Church in Glace Bay on Saturday, November 14th at 11 a.m., interment to follow.
