Marvin Andrew Davis- 77, of Halifax, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022. Born in Wainwright, Alberta, Marvin was a son of the late Oron and Dais Davis. After growing up on the family farm, he joined the Canadian Air Forces and enjoyed a 30-year career serving our country. Early into his military career he met the love of his life, Judy Belle (Schroyen), who was completing her nursing training in Victoria at the time. The family they created together with their two daughters was the pride and joy of his life. His “girls” always came first. Those early years were spent participating in tennis and badminton tournaments, disco dancing with his wife, mess hall balls and racing his beloved TVR in various places across the country.
Marvin’s second career after retiring from the air force started with the opening of a high-end audio video business, where he was able to indulge his love of music and movies and installed many home theatre systems in homes throughout Nova Scotia.
Marvin also enjoyed travelling with his wife and friends throughout the years, with one of his favorite places being Ajijic, Mexico. While there he always greeted the morning while gazing out the window and declaring “not a cloud in the sky, it’s another beautiful day”.
Marvin would spend his leisure time playing tennis, tinkering away in his workshop and dabbling with the stock market. He was a handyman extraordinaire and built their first house from the ground up with his bare hands. He enjoyed wood working and even created his own line of audio speakers, combining his love of woodworking and acoustics, even testing his speakers at the NRC sound lab in Ottawa.
Marvin lived life to the fullest, always kept busy and unintentionally taught those around him, or those who had the privilege to know him, about honesty, integrity, fairness and kindness. He will leave a huge gap in the world and in the lives of his loved ones but will live on with love in the hearts and memories of all who knew him.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Judy Belle, and his daughters Christa Belle (Stephen) and Donna Belle, both of Halifax. His granddaughter Emma Belle and grandson Nathan Andrew. His brothers Phil (Tina), Paul (Mary), and Barry (Sheila). His sisters Faith (Michael), Linda (Norman), Patricia and Debbie (Jim).
Cremation has taken place under the direction of JA Snow Funeral Home, Halifax, where a celebration of life and reception will be held on Friday, December 2nd, 2022, between 3 – 6pm, with comments taking place around 5pm. No flowers by request, donations may be made to Craig’s Cause Pancreatic Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
