Margaret Joan MacNeil

She was predeceased by her husband Robert, daughter Sharon (at birth), parents Cecilia and Alfred, brothers Richard and Thomas. She leaves behind her daughter Debbie (Rick), sons Darren (Levi) and James (Shawnette); Grandchildren Louie, Nikita and Jackson; sister Jean Hann and brothers Michael and Wally Dicks. She also leaves behind a large extended family and great friends that she loved even if she couldn’t stay in contact as much as she would have liked.

Joan worked for many years in the cafeteria at the Victoria General Hospital. After retiring, Joan moved to Yellowknife with her husband to be closer to her son James and his family and to start a new adventure. Joan and Robert moved home to Halifax in 2011. She was an avid reader, puzzler and sports fan. The Blue Jays was her Team and she also loved to watch figure skating, tennis and curling. She loved going for a long drive, it reminded her of her childhood and if that drive included ice cream then even better. She spent her final years with her daughter Debbie and son in law Rick in her little apartment in their home. All her children and grandchildren knew how much she loved them and were happy for every second they had with her. She also loved all her furry family members that entertained her on a daily basis. Mom you are missed.
