Power (Shanks), Kenneth ‘Kenny’ Frederick of Upper Tantallon died peacefully on December 17, 2017 at the age of 60 in the Palliative Care Unit of the VG Site, QeII after a lengthy and courageous battle with Lymphoma.
Kenny was born in Halifax on May 8, 1957 to Helen MacDonald (Power). He is survived by his mother, his wife of 36 years, Elizabeth Power (Williams); daughters, Samantha and Margaret; granddaughter, Arabella; brothers, John, Kevin, Richard (Kelly), Paul (Ryan) and Stephen (Susan), plus many nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Kenny. He was predeceased by brothers, Dewayne, James and Ronald.
Kenny drove taxi for 35 plus years, first with “Y” Taxi and then with Casino Taxi. His great loves were family, A.K. (Alexander Keith’s), pizza, music and getting a good deal; in that order. He enjoyed bonfires, fireworks, playing pool, being Mr. fix-it and especially enjoyed being “Grampie”.
A Celebration of life will take place on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 1pm in Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St. Halifax. Interment in St. John’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the LLSC (the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada) as he was a big supporter of the cause. His team “Powerful People” made up of family and friends raised money annually for the Light the Night Walk.
