Mom loved to play crib which her father taught her during his illness and before he passed away when she was only 19 years old. She honed her skills in subsequent years and was always up for a game challenging her competitors and generally emerging victorious. She also loved to bowl; in the early years on the St Stephens Bowling League and later with the Knights of Columbus League. She especially enjoyed any time she could bowl with family, especially the times her grandchildren participated.
Mom spent many summers at their cottage in Porters Lake not particularly fond of the annoying bugs that always seemed present but always willing to share a drink of Lemon Gin with her friend Jeff. She also enjoyed her travels, spending a number of years in the 80’s going to various locations down south with her husband, hoping her home was still standing while left in Frank’s care during his university time. For many years mom volunteered at Meals on Wheels helping others in their time of need.
In her later years she would travel with Frank on his business trips visiting with family (Niece Sharon in Toronto) while he went off to work or reading the newspaper and chatting it up with hotel staff while waiting for his return. She enjoyed her grandchildren immensely always welcoming an opportunity to look after them. You could see the pride in her face when she first met her great-granddaughter McKenna.
She was known for her whit and ability to give and take in a verbal duel however she was always kind to others and enjoyed socializing. She will be sorely missed. We want to thank all the staff of White Hills LTC for the care and attention they gave mom while she was a resident, we always felt confident she was in good hands.
