Joan was born and raised in the Gaspereau Valley by Charles and Hildred Corkum on May 7, 1935.
After marrying Peter Walker Ross in 1960, they raised their family Kathy, Susan and Bill in their Wedgewood home. She is pre-deceased by Peter and daughter Susan. She is survived by her daughter Kathy (Ray) Chevy Chase MD, son Bill (Susan), sister Kaye Strange, brothers Dean (Pat), Terry (Gail), son-in-law Don and sister-in-law Susan Ross. She cherished her six grandchildren Ally, Emily, Katherine, Caroline, Olivia and Will and her great grandchildren Will, Fiona, Peter and James. Thank you to Dr. Rajaraman and to Megan and the Palliative team for their special care. Thank you to each of her friends and neighbours for their dedicated friendship and support. In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Halifax Hospice.
