Born March 14, 1930, Helen was the youngest child of the late Charles and Audrey (Turner) Levy. She is survived by sister-in-law Doris Levy; nephew Don Levy, nieces Barb Power (Stephen) and Heather Levy; grandniece Shauna Power; grandnephew Matthew Power; great grandnephews Finn and Knox; honorary great-grandchildren Haylee and Colby.
Predeceased by brothers Don, California and Fred, Halifax.
Helen retired in 1988 from the Federal Government after a 35 year career with the Department of National Defense in Halifax. She remained active in her retirement years working part time for H&R Block, then running her own part-time tax preparation business. Helen was a lifelong faithful active soldier of the Salvation Army, Fairview Citadel Corps, Halifax NS. She was an avid Home League member and held several key positions at the Fairview Citadel including being actively involved in the Corps finances, and being an integral part of the Christmas Kettle Campaign. She was a kind and generous soul and a well-loved and respected Soldier.
The family would especially like to thank Helen’s dear friends Joan Watts and Joan Osbourne who tirelessly volunteered their time and energy to ensure that Helen felt loved and was well cared for during her illness.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to JA Snow Funeral Home, Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Visitation will be at The Salvation Army, Fairview Citadel, 50 Gesner Street, Halifax on Thursday July 6 from 2 – 4pm, with a Celebration of Life to follow at 6:30pm, followed by a reception.
