MURPHY, Gregory William —51 of Halifax and Nashua, N.H., died on May 21, 2010, in Halifax after a long battle with prostate cancer. Born in Halifax, he was the son of Mary Murphy and the late Frank Murphy. Greg, in addition to his mother, is survived by his lovely daughters, Maggie, Paige and Emma; brothers, : Mike (Debbi) of Halifax; Terry (Beth) of Greenwood Village, Colo.; several nephews and nieces, and many cousins. Greg was a Dalhousie University graduate. Both a paramedic and respiratory therapist, Greg practiced both and taught Respiratory Therapy. He has also published in texts on emergency airway management on the topic of emergency ventilation. For the last 15 years Greg lived in the United States working in medical equipment marketing and sales, the last five of those with Bay State Anesthesia. Greg committed himself to helping others through his work in the medical field. Although he lived in New Hampshire, he and his girls spent many enjoyable vacations in his beloved Nova Scotia with his extended family and friends. Greg will be missed by all. He was a great friend, a caring family man and a loving father. Visitation will be held in J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Friday, May 28 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass Saturday, May 29 at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church on Purcell's Cove Road. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Palliative Care Amenities Fund of the QEII Health Center Foundation and/or the Victorian Order of Nurses. Many thank you's to the loving family, friends and cousins who traveled to New Hampshire to be with Greg in his final hours.
