Gladys “Marjorie” Claire Coady (MacKinnon) 88, of Halifax, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2015. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, NS , on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 10:30 am.
Marge was born in Rockingham in 1927 and moved to the west end of Halifax in her teens. She graduated from Queen Elizabeth High School and began her career as a hair dresser. Throughout her adult life she held various positions ending her working days as Office Manager for the Duffus Medical Centre. Marge enjoyed reading and bible study. She was very involved in supporting women who found themselves in difficult situations through several organizations, including the Salvation Army. Marge was always organized, hardworking, and thrifty yet generous to those in need.
Marge is survived by her son, Peter Lamb and his wife, Margie, and their three daughters, who were adored by their grandmother, Meghan, Kealin and Sarah. She is also survived by her son, Christopher Lamb; sister, Marian (Jack) Coffin; brother-in-law, Gordon Odell (Toronto) and many very special nieces and nephews.
Marge is predeceased by Edward Lamb and her second husband, Vernon Coady; her parents, Hector and May MacKinnon; brother, Jackie, and sisters, Rose (Don) Cox, Jean (Gordon) Odell, and Avis MacKinnon. She is also predeceased by her special aunt, Gladys ‘Gug’ MacKinnon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to a charity of your choice. The family of Gladys Marjorie Claire Coady wishes to thank the staff of the Parkstone facility for their generous care.
