George William Snow passed away peacefully on May 4th, 2024 at Parkstone Enhanced Care. He was born in Montreal on Feb 22, 1943, the only child of William & Ethel Snow. George is survived by his wife Anne, stepchildren Stephanie and Michael Lea. During his working career he spent over 25 years with G.H.Wood & Company as Atlantic Credit Manager, followed by 14 years with Nova Communications selling communications equipment to emergency service providers in several areas of the province.
George was an avid amateur radio operator. It was through this affiliation that he became interested in the public service aspect of the hobby. He joined the Waverly Ground Search & Rescue Team (now the Halifax Regional Search & Rescue Team), serving for over 30 years. During the time that George lived in Fall River, he was a volunteer firefighter with the LWF Fire Department (now Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency Service) and became a driver/engineer for 15 years, operating out of Station 44/45.
We would like to sincerely thank the staff of McNabs neighbourhood, Parkstone for their excellent & compassionate care. George was a good man, a caring friend, and a wonderful storyteller, we will miss him.
Rest in peace.
