It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mother/Grandmother Evangeline Mae Baird (Whalen) (Bowser). On Sunday June 11th, after a lengthy battle with cancer, Mae left us and is now home with her Lord and Savior. She was born in Halifax in 1943 to the late Peter “Howard” Bowser and Evangeline Mae Bowser (Fader).
She worked for G B Murphy’s and Tower Jewelers as a counter sales rep and was a very active member of Faith City Church, (Formerly Faith Tabernacle) volunteering for various activities and functions. Church was a very important part of her life where she could be found multiple times throughout the week, even after she got sick, she would attend Services virtually.
She leaves behind to grieve, her son’s: Shawn (Roberta), Hubley, Scott (Janet), Dartmouth, Keith, Dartmouth, grandchildren: Amanda (Kyle), Hubbards, Douglas (Kariann), Dartmouth, Jocelyn (Scott), Hubley, David, Halifax, Laura (Lance), Cole Harbour and Bradley (Emily), Sooke, BC, 7 great grandchildren, sister: Evelyn Whitters, Duncan, BC, brother: Weldon Bowser, Dartmouth. She is predeceased by her parents Evangeline and Peter “Howard” Bowser, first Husband: Ray Whalen, second Husband: John Baird, sisters: Margaret White, Norma Manuel and brother: Garfield Bowser.
We would like to give a special thanks to the Palliative Care unit for the amazing care of Mae. We request in lieu of flowers; donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
A visitation for Evangeline will be held Saturday, June 17, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM in J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, NS B3S0E1. A funeral service will occur Monday, June 19, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Faith City Church, 6225 Summit Street, Halifax, NS B3L1R6.
