Esther Theresa Duggan

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our dear, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Esther Theresa (Young) Duggan. Mom passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 18th, 2018.

Esther was a devout catholic and former member of the CWL, St. Josephs Parish Shad Bay and the Royal Canadian Legion and Ladies Auxiliary Branch # 153 Whites Lake. Over the years she played on various bowling leagues and helped out with social functions in the community including the previous Shad Bay Beagle Club. Mom always had a cup of tea and something to eat for anyone who came to visit. Mom grew up in Sydney Mines, Cape Breton and never lost her love for her childhood home. She moved to Halifax and married our dad at the age of 22.

Mom will be sadly missed by her children; sons, Richard (Veronica), Roger (Linda), Ron, Glenn (Anna); daughters, Valerie (Wendell), and Darlene; grandchildren Justin, Mitchell, Shannon, Ryan, Michael, Rebecca and Christopher; great grandchildren, Arthur, Elizabeth and Fallon. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Richard Henry Joseph; parents, Annie MacNeil and Arthur Young; sisters, Beatrice, Helen, Christina, Mary, Margaret and brothers, Charles and Stanley.

Visitation will be at J.A. Snow Funeral Home on Lacewood Drive, Thursday, March 22, from 6-8 pm. Mass of Christian Farewell will be held on Saturday, March 24, at 11:00 am at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Shad Bay. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Shad Bay. Thank you to everyone for their care and compassion to our mom over the last 5 years.
