McNutt, Ernest William, 92, born February 28, 1927, passed away peacefully at the Infirmary Hospital in Halifax, on December 4, 2019. He was predeceased by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Edna Eileen (Cuvelier); his parents, Ernest Sr. and Angeline as well as his brother Charles.
He is survived by his 3 daughters, Linda, Brenda, and Karen as well as two sons, Michael and Stephen. He was the grandfather of 4 and great grandfather of 6.

He served in the Canadian Navy for 25 years where he fought in World War 2 and the Korean War. Upon retiring from the Navy, he returned to school and graduated with his BA and Master’s Degree in Theological Studies. Ernie was a very active member in his Church - St. Joseph‘s Parish as the President of the Parish Council, Eucharist Minister, Lector and he and his wife worked with engaged couples preparing for marriage. He also proudly received the Medal of Diocesan Honor.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the IWK Christmas Daddies Telethon.
Visitation will be held in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, on Monday, December 9, between the hours of 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. His service will be held at St. Mary’s Basilica on Spring Garden Road, Halifax, on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at 10:00 am. The Mass will be officiated by the Very Reverend John Williams. A private family burial will be on Friday, December 13, at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery in Lower Sackville.
