Age 84, passed away peacefully August 11, 2022 in the Halifax Infirmary Site, QEII. Born in Halifax to Mary Sole and Ernest Alfred Murray, where he spent his entire life and married his wife of 62 years, Marjorie Beuree, and raised their family.
Doug had many careers and acquired many qualifications over the years including DND, elevator repair, aircraft mechanic, linesman and finally excelled as an electrical contractor. He started his business, Southern Electric in 1967 and continued working right up until his death.
Doug was quite an athlete in his earlier years and enjoyed playing hockey and also loved to play snooker, darts, and horseshoes. He traveled extensively with his wife and they loved cruises the most. They built a cottage on Fox Point Lake near Hubbards where they made many great memories with family and friends over the years.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Beuree); daughters, Shelley (Rob), Krista; son, Todd (Mimi), grandchildren, Rochelle (Lee), Graeme, Alexia, Sofia, Marcus, Mariah; great-grandson, Colter. He was predeceased by his sister, Florence.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 18th, at 11 a.m. in St. Margaret’s of Scotland Church, 3751 Robie St., Halifax. A celebration of life will be held between 2–4 p.m., August 18th, in Royal Canadian Legion Branch VIMY 27, 3200 Kempt Rd., Halifax.
