Dear Phyllis, This was tough news passed on to me by Ron Walker. Buddy was always a unigue friend when Karen and I lived in Halifax. I will NEVER  forget his laugh.I have so many fond memories of you and buddy back in our heyday. You two were great fun to be around. I know it's hard, but be strong and keep your head up. I have never forgotten you guys...

I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around the fact that when I visit you Buddy wont be there. He had a wonderful personality and was always a great host. He made everyone that came through your door feel at home. So very sorry to hear of your loss. Buddy and I go back to Artillery Street in Halifax. We once ventured on a walk together in the local area at a very young age and had half of the City Police looking for us at one point. Buddy was a great personal and family friend, he will be missed but memories will not be forgotten.

You learn a great deal from someone's obituary. Buddy and I had a few things in common,we both went to Oxford School. I attended for one year in 1958 having moved from Toronto to Halifax with my mother.I lived on Beech Street so I was in the same neighbourhood before going to the west end to live. We both played football in 1968 for the Saint Pat's High School Team that won the Headmaster's Football Championship that year.I worked some shifts' out of the "Bull Pen" at the Hiring Hall for Stevedores in the late 70's, Buddy worked at the Checkers' Hall at the same time. Like Buddy's dad, I worked at the Halifax Police Department and Halifax Police Service from 1979-2003. One of my best arrests' took place at Harvard Street and Chebucto Road, my partner and I caught a man that had robbed several banks over the previous few weeks.I would see Buddy sometimes working at the Docks but never took the time to stop and chat, I regret that now. To the Dwyer family - as a childhood friend of Buddy's I always enjoyed the times I spent playing with him whether it was in the Oxford School yard or on Harvard Street or at the Horsefield. I'll always have fond memories of those times so many years ago.  Buddy was always a 'buddy', it was my pleasure to know him.
