DOREY, PATRICIA “CLAIRE” 83 of Mount Uniacke, formerly of Bedford, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the Halifax Infirmary. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Josephine (Waller) Salterio.
Claire lived in Princess Lodge until marrying her husband Carl, where they resided in Bedford while raising their two daughters (Karen and Kris). She spent her years as a loving wife and mother to her family and enjoyed a very close relationship with her five sisters.
In her earlier years, she was a member of the Bedford Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and prior to raising her family worked at Simpsons.
After Carl’s retirement, they moved to their summer home on Piggot Lake, where they continued to build close relationships with many new and old friends. She enjoyed relaxing with a book and looking out over the lake. She looked forward to her weekly bingo game in Mount Uniacke.
Claire is survived by her loving husband of sixty years, Carl, two daughters Karen Godwin (David) of Hammonds Plains and Kristine Boudreau (Rick) of Timberlea, sisters Jean Patterson, Halifax, Carol Martell (Edward) Bedford, Betty Salter, Halifax and Ann Campbell , Port Hawkesbury and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Josephine Salterio and her sister Mary Lou Kerr (Glen) and brothers- in- law Hugh Patterson, Bill Salter and Cyril Campbell.
Visitation will be held 2-4, 7-9, Monday January 18, 2016 at J.A.Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr. Halifax. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday January 19, 2016 in St. Ignatius Parish, 1288 Bedford Highway, reception to follow. Interment will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors in the emergency departments of both the Cobequid Centre and the Halifax Infirmary, for their care and compassion.
Flowers may be sent to J.A. Snow Funeral Home, or in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
