Of Halifax (formerly of Ottawa), beloved father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle, passed away peacefully at Melville Gardens Residential Care Centre on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at age 85. Born in Ottawa January 10, 1931, he was the son of the late Romeo and Rhea (Bordeleau) Therrien. Charles served as a page in the Senate, was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force, was a Civil Service member for 35 years and rounded out his career serving as a Commissionaire in Ottawa.
Charles was predeceased by his wife of 50 years Ida Barbara (Parker). Charles is survived by his son, Paul (Margaret); sister, Florence Maclean; grandchildren, Erika-Ann (Andrew), Megan (Michael), and Andrew; and great-grandchildren Bronwen, Wesley, Maddox, and Charlotte; and many nieces and nephews.
The family is thankful for the excellent care he received at Melville Gardens. A private celebration of life will a held at a later date, followed by internment in Ottawa. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society appreciated.
