She was a daughter of the late John D. and Melinda (David) Cashen. Kaye with her quick wit and warming smile loved life and lived it to the fullest .Her biggest love was her family. She enjoyed nothing better than to have the house full of family, laughter, food and music. This also involved many hours of her other passion, playing cards. Kaye worked as a bookkeeper in her younger years helping her uncle at his store in Port Felix before moving to Halifax where she met and married her husband Jim. They were long time residents of Maynard St. in Halifax where they raised their family. They moved to Northwood Manor and Kaye lived there for 29 years. She was involved in many committees at Northwood and enjoyed all the activities she was able to attend. Kaye is survived by her daughter Shirley MacKenzie; Halifax, son Jimmie (Donna); Sackville. Grandchildren Debbie, Howie, Charlie, Ernie, Kerry Lee and Scott. Great-Grandchildren Maureen, Mindy, Kaitlin, Rebecca, Jessica, Nickolas, Alexander, Carter, Jazzlyn, and eight Great-Great-Grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Jim, sister Louise La Pierre (Art); brother Gerald ( Aggie), daughter Joan ( Cannon) son in law Maurice and son in law Howard MacKenzie. Visitation 2-4,6-8 pm Tuesday September 24 ,2013 in Cruikshank’s Funeral Home ,2666 Windsor St. Halifax. Where Funeral Service will be held 10am Wednesday, September 25, 2013.
