Catherine Margaret “Kay” MacDougall age 90, of Halifax, passed away at her home in Halifax on January 7, 2015. She was born in Port Hood, NS, the daughter of the late Angus and Ellen (MacDonald) MacDougall.
Catherine was a ward clerk at Camp Hill Hospital since 1952, one of the first four in Nova Scotia. She received the Silver Jubilee Award in recognition of various services to Canada with Veterans Affairs. She became a member of the Camp Hill Credit Union soon after joining the staff of Camp Hill, and was active in the management of the Union on a voluntary basis.
She is survived by her sister, Jessie Marchand of Halifax and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents and sisters, Marie MacDougall and Mary MacDonald.
Visitation will be held from 2-5 on Sunday, January 11 in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood, Drive, 902-455-0531. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 12, in St. John the Baptist Church at 10 am with Fr. Dan MacDonald, Catherine’s nephew to officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in Port Hawkesbury, NS. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Society.
The family wishes to thank Northwood Care and the VON, especially Melanie Mills who spent Catherine’s last moments with her as well as to her family for their continued dedication and kindness.
