Age 66, of Halifax passed away suddenly at home on March 2, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Dorothy (DeStephen) Sawchuk. She is survived by her sisters, Linda (Allen) Fougere and Nadine (Don) Eddy.
Brenda graduated from Mount Saint Vincent University in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and from St Mary’s University in 1978 for education. She taught at Halifax West High School and then worked at the Workers’ Compensation Board. Brenda loved life and was always up for an adventure with her many friends, often spending time at the cottage, travelling, and enjoying her “many road trips”. Unfortunately, the last several years have been incredibly challenging for Brenda with her many health issues but Brenda being strong willed and very determined was able to remain in her own home.
Thank you to Home Care, VON, her neighbor Luke, Guardian Drugs Rockingham Ridge, and most importantly her devoted circle of friends that have always been there for her. You know who you are, and she truly did love all of you.
Friends are people who make you smile brighter, laugh louder and live better.
There will not be visitation. Burial will take place in the Spring and there will be a gathering at that time. Donations in Brenda’s name can be made to the QEII Foundation or the Food Bank.
Brenda, you were a warrior. Rest in peace
