Barbara Joan Shea

SHEA, BARBARA JOAN, age 83 of Halifax, passed away on August 9, 2019. She was the daughter of Arnold J. MacPherson and Helen Vaughan (Cole). Predeceased by her husband James J. Shea, and infant sister, Mary L. She is survived by her son, Paul (Daphne) of St Margaret’s Bay, and daughter, Eileen Kelly (Brian) of Halifax, and four wonderful grandchildren, of whom she was so proud, Robert and Lesley Shea, and Ryan and Megan Kelly, all of Halifax.

Barbara received her Bachelor of Arts and her Masters from Mount St. Vincent University. She was a woman of faith and love and devoted many years volunteering at QEII in the Palliative Care Unit, as well as Mount Saint Vincent University. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for over 50 years, fund raising to donate to many different charities. Barbara retired from teaching in the Halifax Regional School Board in 1990. She spent most of her career teaching in the north end of Halifax.

Visitation will be held at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive Tuesday August 13, 2019 from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Benedict Church, 45 Radcliffe Drive, Halifax, on Wednesday, August 14, at 10:30 am, with reception to follow in the church hall. Burial at Gates of Heaven Cemetery for family only. Donations to Palliative Care Unit at the QEII, or a charity of your choice.
