

Anne Hartling (Bailey), age 96, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Born on July 28, 1928, in Princeton, Ontario, she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Alma (Thompson) Bailey.
Anne grew up on a farm in southern Ontario. As a young woman, she moved to Nova Scotia where she soon met the love of her life, Hubert Hartling. Hubert and Anne were married on March 27, 1952, and shared an extraordinary life together, building a warm and loving home in Halifax where they raised their three beautiful children.
Anne enjoyed fulfilling career in retail, ultimately retiring from Mills Brothers. She was an avid reader and talented baker, known for her kindness and generosity towards others. Above all, Anne’s greatest joy came from spending time with her beloved family and friends. Anne’s legacy lives on through those who loved her dearly.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Laura Pelly (Bernie Tremblay) and Andrew Pelly; her great-grandsons, Austin and Ashton Pelly; her brother, Austin Bailey; as well as a large extended family and many cherished friends. Anne was predeceased by her husband, Hubert; her children, Gordon, Heather and Paula; and her siblings, Aubrey, Wilfred, Erma, and Ernest.
A funeral service to honor Anne’s life will be held on March 31, 2025, at 1:00 PM at St. James Anglican Church in Halifax, officiated by Rev. Katie Taylor-Flynn. Burial will follow at Fairview Lawn Cemetery.
