Esther Lubchansky Korin was born July 30, 1931 and left us in the wee hours of Monday June 3rd, 2024 surrounded by three of her biggest fans – and there are many – her children. Born and raised in the Bronx to humble and warm immigrant parents, she embodied their values by living a life filled with humor, kindness and grace right up to the last moments. She was an amazing human, daughter, friend, wife, mom, mom-in-law, grandma, great grandma, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, writer, educator, colleague, citizen, wise-woman, tennis aficionado, jazz-lover, crossword puzzler, solitaire player, gif- and emoji-sender and best of all “a good dancer.”
She was a proud first-generation college graduate, with a Bachelor's degree in Business from New York University and a Masters degree in Education from Fairfield University. After marrying Sam Korin and being the fiercely protective and supportive mama bear to her kids, she had a long and distinguished career as a school administrator, rising the ranks in the South Orangetown Central School District.
She is beloved and already missed by her friends and family who remain, her children: Jon (Kathy), Rob (Mary), Judy (Richard); her grandkids: Lisa (Mike L), Ben (Marine), Mike (Robin), Anne, Daniel (Kristina), David (Christina), Michael (Lauren), Emma (Ivy), Alice (Amanda); and her great grands: Ryan, Haley, Mike Jr, Jordan, Zach, Nate, John, Sora, Colette, Jaxon, Riley, Hannah, Tyler, Liam and Samuel.
As a reminder to enjoy life’s ride, donations may be made in her memory to the Cycling Without Age program of Bike AAA https://bikeaaa.org/cwa-donations/.
