Terry was born on June 22, 1964 in St. Charles, IL. He attended elementary school in Geneva, IL. In 1974, he and his family moved to St. Peter, MN where he graduated high school. He enlisted in the Army Reserves and served from 1983 until he retired in 2004. Terry was a Combat Engineer, Vehicle Engineer and finally a Tech Engineer serving in Honduras and later in the Gulf War. Terry’s awards include the Army Achievement medal, 2 Army Reserve Achievement medals, National Defense Service medal, Global War on Terrorism medal, Humanitarian Service medal, Armed Forces Reserve medal with One Hour Glass Device and Mobilization Device, Army Reserve Component medal, and the Overseas training ribbon.
Early in his career, Terry spent many years driving a semi-truck, and traveling across the country. In January of 2000, Terry gave up his road travels for the air. He joined American Airlines, and was with them for 20 years.
Although Terry was a decorated Army engineer, his greatest achievements were his four children, Megan (John) Reed, Jennifer Rasmussen, Sara Rasmussen, and Brian Rasmussen. He also left siblings, Jolene (Robert) Clarke, Ryan (Nancy) Rasmussen, and Deneen Scott; his grandchildren, Everleigh and Ronin; and his parents Roy Rasmussen and Carol Rasmussen all to relish in his memory. This does not begin to touch the many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will, with his family, always remember his love, humor, and hold in awe, his gift to tell a joke, his knowledge of history, his love for all sports, especially baseball and football and his unrelentless love for his country.
Those closet to Terry, describe him as a best friend, hero, hopeful, jokester, funny, loyal and a big hearted person.
Rest In Peace.
