He was born to James and Georgia Little on October 27, 1961 in Peoria, Illinois. Steven graduated from Woodruff High School in 1980 and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University in 1986. He married Carla Norrene Williams in 1990. They have resided in Gurnee, IL for over 17 years and attend Lakeland Evangelical Free Church.
A graduate of the College of Human Sciences, Steve played his collegiate football at Iowa State University where he was a 3 year starter, 4 time letterman, MVP of Defensive Line, Team Captain, and an All Big Eight performer. After his collegiate career, he signed NFL player contracts with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Detroit Lions, and Atlanta Falcons. He earned All-American honors in football at Peoria Woodruff High School along with being an All-State Wrestler, a record-holding Shot Putter and Discus Thrower, and was inducted to their Hall of Fame in 1986 and 2010.
Steve’s final Coaching experience was with Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL. Prior to Lake Forest, He spent 3 seasons as Defensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach at Trinity International University making the NAIA playoffs and coaching in the All American Bowl. Steve spent 9 seasons at the Chicago Bears serving as Assistant Linebacker Coach, Assistant Defensive Line Coach, and Assistant Physical Development Coordinator over his tenure. Steve coached with the San Francisco 49ers, serving as a coach in the 1994 NFL Pro Bowl and also participated NFL Internship programs with the Buffalo Bills and Carolina Panthers. At the collegiate level, Steve coached at Northern Illinois University, Purdue University, Temple University, and Iowa State University where he coached and trained numerous future NFL players.
He is survived by his wife; four children: Kristen (24), Kelsey (22), Keralynn (17) and Kamille (16); his parents; two brothers, James and Brian (Anise) Little, a sister Barbara Jean Williams-Brooks; several beloved sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews as well as his two dogs: C.J. and Karmela.

A viewing will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2 at Lakeland Evangelical Free Church, 440 North Hunt Club Road, Gurnee, IL. The funeral will commence at 4:00 p.m. following the viewing.
