Irene Mitchell passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 23, 2024 at the age of 80. She is the cherished mother of two sons, Graeme (Laurie) and Alex (Christianne), and four adoring granddaughters, Tyne, Sydney, Shaelyn, and Sierra.
Irene was born in Fatfield, England, to William and Doris Todd. Growing up in the North East of England, Irene met the love of her life, William “Bill” Mitchell. They lived in Chester-le-Street prior to moving to Canada and settling in Guelph. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Bill's passing in 2012 left a void that Irene carried with grace.
Irene was the dearest aunt to Chris (Lisa), Kelvin (Vicky), Jacqueline (Steve), Karen (Ian), and many grand nieces and nephews, as well as the sister-in-law to Joan and Bob Atkinson. Irene was also predeceased by her parents, as well as her sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Lloyd Owen.
Known affectionately as "Nanny", Irene's time with her granddaughters brought her immense joy. She reveled in every moment spent with them, imparting wisdom, and creating memories that will be cherished for generations.
Throughout her life, Irene touched the hearts of those around her. Her legacy lives on through the love she shared and the memories she created with her family and friends.

Resting at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel 1099 Gordon St. Guelph. At Irene’s wishes, a private memorial will be held.
