Annie Goodden leaves behind her husband J. Clive Ord, son Mike Henriques and his wife Corina and beloved grandchildren Isabella and Arya. Also leaves stepson Scott Ord and late son Paul Henriques.
Annie Goodden was born into the loving family of five children of John Goodden and Eduarda Goodden (Medeiros): sister Mary and her husband Carlo Torti, brother John Goodden and his wife Linda, predeceased by her brother Francis Goodden in 2023, her sister Rosemary and her husband Doug Talbot along with many nieces, nephews and cousins in a large, loving extended family.
Annie was legally blind from birth, but nobody bothered telling her she was blind; she regarded herself as the kid that just bumped into things. Leaving Sao Miguel for Canada in 1962, she was encouraged by her immensely supportive parents, siblings and family to eschew school for the blind and adapted to the sighted world with her irrepressible sunny nature, determination and charm. She raised her boys Paul and Mike while schooling, playing in a Portuguese dance band with sister Mary and eventually trained as a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) at CCMH in Sutton, ON.
Annie set down roots in Guelph ON, using her family work ethic to build a successful RMT practice of 37 years and provide the best possible upbringing for her kids. She was a true healer and was beloved by her patients, friends and family alike. Annie received her black belt in Karate from Sensei Kevin Sealy. During the virus times Annie took up the fiddle inspired by Paul McDonald and his Puslinch Fiddle Orchestra. She was a hard-working fiddler with perfect tone and a remarkable ability to learn all tunes by rote. Many wonderful gatherings ensued with the PFO fiddlers and Duff’s church clan.
After a multiple myeloma diagnosis 8 years ago, Annie soldiered on in her loving and giving life, not to be denied living full-on until the end. Conscientious to the last breath, Annie waited until her family had gathered at Hospice Wellington before she peacefully graduated “Earth School”. May she smile down upon us and help those who miss her so very much.
