Those who knew him loved him. He was a wonderful father, brother and friend. He was the most kindhearted, caring, and loving husband and friend there was. His wife, Linda, was blessed to have spent the last 42 years walking next to him.
His daughter, Kara, was the love of his life. He taught her how to drive, play with electricity, how to find humor and sarcasm in the everyday things and most importantly shared the love of everything “Monty Python.”
His sister, Jo, who lives near his hometown of Hubbard, survives him. While he started out as a “bit of a goober,” they became close later in life; enjoying holidays spent laughing together at their silly family’s antics.
He loved photography and would always say “pixels are cheap” just keep shooting.
He liked to supervise Linda as she gardened to make sure everything was symmetrical and planted in 3’s because “nature abhors even numbers,” despite his love of them when eating cookies.
Rick loved to travel with Linda and his dear friends, from Australia to Ireland & Scotland, 53 of our National Parks, and many brew-cations in between.
He was a home brewer and beer snob. With his group of friends, they would tell stories and play cribbage; all while brewing some great beer and dreaming up recipes for the next brew.
He was the creator, host, and chili afficionado of his annual Rosine Chili Cookoff, started in 2007. Many great, unusual, and not-so-great chilis have been sampled and voted on in the past 17 years, including Rick’s smoked brisket chili.
His other accomplishments include:
• Worked in the HVAC industry for over 45 years
• LEED AP
• Member of the Valley of Youngstown, 32-degree Scottish Rite
• Member of the Grove City Sustainability Committee
• Member of the Grove city Noon Lions Club
He will be greatly missed and will live in our hearts forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Grove City Noon Lions Club (GCNLC) Community Fund and mailed to 2119 Ravine Woods Dr. Grove City, Ohio 43123.
