A lifelong resident of central Ohio, Mike dedicated much of his life to his work and his family. He dedicated the last 15 years of his career to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, a job he truly enjoyed, where he formed many lasting friendships and made great memories. Prior to that, he enjoyed a long and fulfilling 30-year career at AT&T.
Mike was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness who found deep fulfillment in his faith and service to others. He was an active member of the Kingdom Hall, and his heart was always in helping those in need. He dedicated many hours to disaster relief efforts and was proud to be involved in the building projects that made a difference in people’s lives.
Mike’s greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He had a love for the outdoors and cherished simple pleasures such as fishing, camping, and building fires. His favorite spot was Darby Creek, where he made many memories with loved ones over the years.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Roseanna Barnes; his brother, Patrick (Kent) Barnes of New York; his sons, Michael Charles Barnes and his grandson, David Barnes, of Paris, France, and Stephen (Bridgette) Barnes and his grandson, Elliott Barnes, of Columbus, Ohio; and many dear friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Marjorie Barnes.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Capital City Hospice for their exceptional care and support during Mike’s final days.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Capital City Hospice at 2800 Corporate Exchange Dr. #170, Columbus, OH 43123.
A memorial service for Mike will be held on Saturday, December 21st, at 1:30 PM at the Kingdom Hall, 3333 Main Street, Hilliard, OH 43026.
Mike will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his legacy of kindness, faith, and service will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
