Angela “Angie” Taylor, age 59, died peacefully on November 22, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on September 3, 1965, in Macon, Georgia, to Houston and Betty A. Taylor. Angie later moved to Columbus, Ohio, where she spent much of her life and career.
She was preceded in death by her father, Houston “Tex” Taylor; her brother, John (Sherry) Taylor; sister-in-law, Penny Taylor; and father-in-law, Paul Shaffer. Angie is survived by her devoted wife of 35 years, Rita Shaffer; her mother, Betty A. Taylor; brothers Danny Taylor and David (Rebecca) Taylor; her mother-in-law, Maryann Shaffer; sisters-in-law Charlene (Jeff) Schrock and Sonya (Judy) Taylor; brother-in-law Raymond Shaffer, many nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved four-legged children, who brought her immense joy throughout her life.
Angie enjoyed a remarkable 31-year career at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. She started in parking and advanced her way to the role of Senior Security Officer, where she earned a reputation for her dedication and strong work ethic.
Outside of work, Angie cherished the simple pleasures of life. Her greatest joys were spending time with her wife and their dogs, the two things she loved most. Angie had a wide range of interests, including fishing, bike riding, hiking, gardening, swimming, and doing arts and crafts. She also had a deep love for music, with her favorite artists being Celine Dion, Dolly Parton, Reba, and Cher.
Angie will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and unwavering belief in the goodness of others. She had an extraordinary ability to see the best in people, no matter their story, and she was never afraid to face adversity head-on. Her resilience and positive spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.
A visitation will be held at Schoedinger-Norris Funeral Home, 4242 Hoover Rd., Grove City, Ohio, on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
