Thomas George Johnston

Thomas George Johnston, of Grosse Pointe Shores, passed away with his family by his side on July 10, 2024 at the age of 85. He was born in Detroit on March 6, 1939, son of John Wesley and Sophie Rose Johnston.

He graduated from U of D High School and received his bachelor degree in electrical engineering from the University of Detroit in 1961 and his MBA in 1970. Tom donated endless hours to St Joan of Arc Church. He was the head of the athletic booster club for 5 years and held multiple positions at the annual St Joan of Arc Fair. He made many lifelong friends throughout his years there.

Tom was an avid sports fan. He loved supporting his grandchildren with everything they did. He was a true competitor in everything from playing the train game with his family to various euchre clubs, golf, bowling, softball, etc.

He is survived by his loving wife Anna Marie. He was proud of his daughters Trisha (Jeff) Stander and Tammy (Greg) Eugenio. He adored his grandchildren Olivia (Mike) Dallaire, Jack (Faith) Stander, Annie Eugenio, Ava Stander and Nick Eugenio. He was the great-grandfather of Vivienne and Michael Dallaire. He will be missed by his brothers Richard (the lateMary Jane) and Dave (Debra) Johnston. He leaves behind numerous nephews and nieces and his two cousins who were like brothers (Ken and Greg Burek).

A visitation for Thomas will be held Sunday, July 14, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan 48236. A funeral mass will occur Monday, July 15, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 467 Fairford, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236.
