Sam (Salvatore) J. Evola, age 81, died suddenly on March 9, 2012 at his home in St Clair Shores. He was born on August 26, 1930 in Detroit as the son of Salvatore and Margarita Evola. Sam graduated from Grosse Pointe High in 1948. In 1952, Sam went to Korea to serve in the Army. He returned in 1954 to start his family. Prior to Sam leaving for Korea, he married Joyce Schreiber with whom he shared two children, Jill and Mark. He was married to Joyce for 20 years. Sam worked in outdoor advertising from 1967 until 1996. At the time of his retirement, he was working for Gannett Outdoor Company. Throughout his life, Sam has loved boating and being on the water. For 30 years, he has owned his 30' Lyman boat named E-go. Everyone that knew Sam knew him as a 'social butterfly'. He loved people and was a very social man. Sam is survived by his children; Jill (Michael) Evola-Vokt and Mark (Ronda). He is the brother of Joseph (Carroll) and the late Joann (late Matt) Locricchio. Sam is the proud grandfather of; Jenna, Daniel, Kristen and Peter. He is also the uncle to; Anne (Peter) Hurtubise, Joseph (Amy), Melissa, Grace (Chris) Younce, Bill Locricchio and Margaret Locricchio. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2:00 until 9:00 pm at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods.
