John "Jack' Potts Jr.

John "Jack" Potts, Jr., age 92, of Grosse Pointe Woods, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2018 at his home. John was born in Detroit on April 5, 1925 to the late John Sr. and Bertha Potts. John was married to the late Barbara Potts (nee LaBar) for 63 years; Barbara passed in 2014. Jack had a long career with Allstate Insurance Company, spending most of his time in the Roseville office. He was an excellent businessman, and his customers adored him. There werent many that didnt adore, Jack. He was always dressed to the 9s, never with a crease or pleat out of place. This was even true on the golf course, where Jack spent A LOT of his time. He was a scratch golfer, and was proud member of Indianwood Golf Club in Lake Orion, MI for over 35 years. In addition to golf, Jack loved hunting and fishing and was an avid outdoorsman. Jack was a humble man and was the rock of the family. He had a wonderful personality and an unmatchable charisma that will forever be remembered. Through his story telling and constant jokes, his legacy will continue on through the generations. His family is so grateful for his influence, love, and guidance throughout these years. He truly was one of a kind and will be missed by all that knew him. Jack is the loving father of Lori (the late Lawrence) Slowik, and Lynn (Dave) Maxwell. Cherished grandfather of Brandon (Kristen) Robertson, Jessica (Jeff) Bruss, Carly Maxwell, and Emily Maxwell. Beloved great-grandfather of Charlotte, Hudson, Isla, Jackson, and Brody. Dearest brother of Ann Dise and Judy (Jim) Schroeder. Preceaded in death by his wife of 63 years, Barbara Jane. The family welcomes friends and neighbors to share memories at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home of Grosse Pointe Woods, 20705 Mack Avenue (at Vernier), on Friday, March 9th, from 4-9pm. Services will be held on Saturday, March 10th at 10am at the funeral home with visitation beginning at 9am until the time of the service. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital or the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
