Elizabeth Beatty

Elizabeth "Betty" Beatty, a longtime resident of Grosse Pointe Woods, passed away on November 7, 2019 at the age of 93. A daughter of William and Irene (nee Thibodeau), Betty was born in Riverside, Ontario on November 4, 1926. Betty was proud of her career as a head nurse at Cottage Hospital in Grosse Pointe Farms. She provided care to her community for over 40 years, and then spent another 30 years in retirement caring for her neighbors and family. Betty was a shining example of independence in her retirement years- she enjoyed riding her bike along Lake Shore Road, mowing her lawn, and driving her blue Oldsmobile Cutlass. Strong in her faith, Betty was an active member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Betty was predeceased by the following siblings: Gerald, Donald, Margeurite, Roy, and Madeleine. Dearest sister of Stanley. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews who provided support to Betty in her later years. A visitation for Betty will take place on Friday, November 15th, from 4:00 until 8:00 pm at A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., Grosse Pointe Woods, 48236. Betty will lie in state on Saturday, November 16th, from 9:30 am until time of funeral Mass at 10:00 am at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 467 Fairford Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods, 48236. Donations in Betty's memory may be made to Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church.
